Description Of Work: I recently have roof damage from hurricane Sandy and my insurance company requested that I get an estimate. I called American Construction and John came promptly the next day to measure my roof. I received the estimate that same day and was able to forward it to my insurance company! I was concerned on how long it would take to get an estimate because of the weather, but their quick response and detailed estimate got a quick response from the insurance company. I had a check for the full job in a couple days. Once I received the funds, John came to my house with samples and we entered into contract for the job! That was Monday, supplies came on Wednesday and they performed the work that Saturday! They worked hard to rip off old roof; my roof has a steep pitch! The quality of the shingles and materials was excellent? The workmanship and attention to details was great! When the job was complete, the entire job site was completely cleaned! They even ran magnets over my entire yard checking for nails! Roof looks great! Very Happy!

Member Comments: American Construction put on a much-needed new roof on my rental property. I admit I did not shop around because A) it was a pretty urgent matter and B) there are not too many roofers in that area. I tried another company about a year ago that stopped returning my calls for some unknown reason, and I never was able to get an estimate from them. However, I was told by a couple people that I was given a good price. My house was in the path of Hurricane Sandy, so I waited until she passed through to post this. The roof survived, unscathed! The old roof probably would have blown away. I let the company choose the shingle color for me, and they made a beautiful choice, if there is such a thing as a beautiful roof. I had an estimate within two days of my first contact with the company, and the job was completed less than two weeks later. All in all, I am happy with the job they did, and I probably will use them again in the future. My only complaint has nothing to do with the work that was done. The owner probably shouldn't talk politics with his customers, because one day, it's going to offend someone and cause him to lose a customer.

Description Of Work: They had to replace old slate shingles that were deteriorated with new asphalt shingles. They also sanded and painted the exterior wooden window trim.

Member Comments: They did an excellent job-finishing the roofing work in one day! The roof had an extremely steep pitch to it and they handled it well. They also did a fantastic and thorough job sanding and painting the window trim. The house has a lot of windows and they completed the job effectively and efficiently. After both jobs they cleaned the site completely. My house looks terrific now, thanks to American Construction! John, the owner, was a pleasure to work with-from start to finish. I look forward to using American Construction in the future for any other projects my house needs.

Description Of Work: Honest and Reliable Home Repairs and Improvement

Member Comments: My mother lives in a remote town in Pennsylvania, and her family is scattered along the East Coast. Mom's house was hit with a severe storm and needed the roof replaced, water damage inside her house repaired and some sections of the siding repaired and replaced. We were fortunate enough to find John K by way of an advertisement he had mailed to my mother. He gave Mom and her family an estimate of the cost of doing the repairs which was competitive with other estimates we received. John and his crew started the job promply and completed the work quickly and in a workman like fashion. John and crew treated my Mom respectfully and courteously, and made a favorable impression on Mom. Because John had such a good job on the storm repairs, my brother and I asked that John give us an estimate to replace storm doors and windows in Mom's house. We gave the job to John, and he and his crew completed the work quickly and with a minimum of disruption and confusion to Mom. We value John's serrvices highly, and were pleased that he stuck to his estimates and did very good work. If we need some more work done on Mom's home, we will be in touch with John and his American Construction group of Jim Thorpe PA.

Description Of Work: They provided an estimate for roof repair/replacement following significant hail damage. Their estimate was right in line with the insurance company's. Once the work was started it was a mater of 2 days for the new roof on the house to be completed. A week or so later I had them do the roof on a small detached garage - one day's work there.

Member Comments: Shortly after a severe hail storm our area was flooded with contractors offering estimates - some not so free as it turned out. Since American Construction was fairl local, compared to some, I had them do a quick evaluation. They suggested I contact my insurance company. The damage wasn't obvious from the ground but was very noticeable once someone went up onto the roof. After the insurance adjuster visited, American Construction gave me an estimate which was right on target. The day they showed up to start the job they began by laying tarps all around the perimeter of the house to aid in cleanup. They removed the old roofing material and cleaned up every last bit of it and hauled it away. The new roofing material arrived while they were finishing up the removal process and they immediately began applying the tar paper and the new roof. They also cut the plywood at the peak so that the vent actually did what it was supposed to. My roof has several valleys and the work in those areas looks perfect. Overall an extremely professional job.

If I had any questions, I could always reach him. He addressed all questions/concerns that I had. His crew is very friendly and quite professional. Description Of Work: He did a total finishing of my basement. This included plumbing, masonry, drywall, woodwork, redoing the stair case, electrical, hot water heater, fireplace, mantles, painting, etc.

Member Comments: He did everything that would finish off a basement. We had recently purchased the house, and we had to remove some stuff left from the previous mover. He went over everything beforehand. He gave us computer generator drafts of the room. His skills are up to date. He knows how to do the whole job. We are extremely happy with the result. We still get compliments even from those who have seen it many times.
